Runyon Canyon
The Vista House Los Angeles is situated at the west gate entrance of Runyon Canyon Park, one of the most popular hiking destinations in Los Angeles, and often appears on publishers’ lists of the best hikes and views in LA. This 160-acre, 3.3-mile hiking trail offers great views from Hollywood to the ocean. Celebrity sightings are common, and it is noted for its liberal off-leash dog policy.
Wattles Park
Walk two blocks to the west of Vista House, and you will arrive at Wattles Park gates, leading up to the majestic Wattles Mansion. Explore the gardens that include a flowing stream, a Japanese garden dotted with imported plants and lanterns, and almost a full acre of lush lawn surrounded by palm, pine, oak, eucalyptus, sumac, and bay laurel trees. Nearby is the Wattles Farm Garden, a members-only four-acre community garden of fruit, vegetables, and flowers.
